Educators
Mentors can make a difference in mentees’ lives by sharing knowledge and providing constructive feedback and guidance about their career goals. Mentors will include faculty members, nurses, pharmacists, scientist, healthcare professional students and residents who are interested in promoting and supporting students in their endeavors to become a healthcare provider. Mentoring is done on a volunteer basis but commitment is an important factor for the success of the mentor-mentee relationship. Mentors provide mentorship in one or more of the following areas: e-mentoring (at least one hour/month), clinic or hospital shadowing, afterschool programs and/or research. E-mentoring will be done by faculty members and healthcare professional students. Student mentors can also help faculty mentors in conducting hospital or clinic tours or afterschool clubs.

A Mentorship Manual describing the roles and responsibilities of the mentor and the mentee is available on the website. The Future Health Provider Club requests a minimum one-year commitment for the mentoring pairs. After that time, the mentoring relationship can continue for as long as the participants are willing.
